2009-11-24 Some more shots from yesterday's practice. Kotte is literally living in there. He is going to get out on tour and play great soon. I've never seen anyone practice as much as him and enjoying golf as much as he does. He is in the golf tent from 10 in the morning until 6 at night every day. Most players get tired of the inside driving range after 30 minutes. He doesn't:)
Viktor Gustavsson is keeping an eye on him. Viktor used to play professionally and now does a great job as a coach at Haninge Golf Club.
Jimmy came in to hit some floppers.
Bosön Training Centre outside Stockholm. Great place for all sports.
Trying to get back to running again after that knee injury in the spring. Haven't run since then, felt weird but nice.
This is how a gym should look like! Only free weights and lots of space.
Did some screening tests today with my physio Pierre. Getting a winter break schedule tomorrow and we got a lot of hours of work in front of us. Feels awesome to have a 8 week break from tournament golf. I got a lot of time to get stronger and faster and to improve all parts of my game. Hope to feel more motivated and in better shape when heading back to the desert in the Middle-east in January for the first tournaments of the 2010 season.
Do you guys want to have another contest? Maybe the one of you guys who does the most chin-ups gets some nice training gear or something? Send in the videos and we'll see who wins. Good idea or you guys want to do something else?
Teeing off during the last round with Padraig Harrington at the Earth Course in Dubai World Championship.
It was a good experience to play with Harrington. He putted unreal and showed some serious competetiveness.
Price giving ceremony.
Westwood was the double winner and he deserved it all.
I feel like a packing pro. Wonder how many times I've packed my clubs over the years.
Shock! Clouds over Sweden:)
The weather in Sweden was a little different than than in Dubai. But, it doesn't matter to me since I'm gonna be inside a tent hitting balls and work ing out.
Haninge Golf Centre. Indoor driving range. It feels like this has been my home during the winters. Now, I come here whenever I'm in Sweden and it's always nice to see the guys from my home club practicing here.
Have gotten addicted to training only with my right hand. In both hitting and putting it feels like it helps a lot.
It's about 50 yeards to the net so it's great for pitching practice.
Tomorrow starts the winter workouts. Meeting up Pierre to do a screening of where I am at the moment and then make a plan to go forward. I feel really excited for that and I'm preparing with some late night food here to get some good energy. Working out feels like a great hobby to have to get my mind of golf. Also, it helps my golf.
2009-11-21 Had a great day on the course with Edfors today! Always fun to play with someone as competetive as him and he is such a nice guy too! He is a little too popular though...too many women following our group. I have to focus:) I managed to play well though and really excited for tomorrow. Five shots up to the leader Westwood but lying in third so there is always a chance but I need a really low one! May the luck be with me.
Some training with Mr. Cowen after the round. The swing is feeling better than in the beginning of the week. Improvement is all I'm looking for.
The left wrist is on it's way to get enough "cupped" at the top of the swing.
This move is the key for the golf swing I think. Work left and down and the club and the hands will follow their correct paths.
The putting has saved me many times this week. I have hit hundreds of putts with only the right hand and tried to put the best roll possible on the ball. It feels great putting the left hand on afterwards.
Photos are taken by my caddie/photographer Colin Byrne who is actually releasing his second book on thursday next week in Dublin, Ireland. I'm going to show my support for him and go there. They are all playing golf at Royal Dublin thursday morning but since it was 3 degrees during the Irish Open this year in June I don't think it will be much warmer now in November so I'm gonna sit inside by the fire and watch them suffer outside. Colin's writing is great though, you can read his articles every week in Irish Times. Just search for Colin Byrne at irishtimes.com The first book he published is called "Bag Man". A lot of fun reading about both the US- and European Tour.
Need some sleep now.
Catch you later:)
2009-11-20 Colin is a little tired after our up and down round today. Didn't hit the ball great so had to save pars all the time it felt like. Fun to hole some tricky par putts though. Then, to my surprise, I holed out from the wood chips on 18 from 155 yards for an eagle. I've holed more shots this year than all my previous 23 years of playing golf combined I think. Feels great:)
He is tired of me hitting it in the deep and big bunkers here. Takes a lot of effort to rake them. I'll be nicer to you tomorrow I hope:)
Dubai is crazy as you all know...who has a whaleshark in the hotel aquarium??? Cool animal though, maybe not the greatest place for it though!?
There are a lot of fairway bunkers at this course and I'm not the only one who seems to need some practice in them. Fernandez-Castano is hitting a few as well.
So happy my blistera are almost gone...got a new pair of shoes today which felt like slippers compared to my leather classics. I could almost do a full workout tonight which felt impossible to do last night. Playing with Mr. Edfors tomorrow. Will be great. He recorded 19 chin-ups the other day so we're even on that so now it's all up to the golf tomorrow. We'll see who is the strongest there.
Sleep time...it's after 10 PM. I feel like a rebel!
One lucky amatuer who had bought an Odessey putter last year got a chance to win 1.000.000 Euro by holing a 100 foot putt (around 30 meters). He had a 49 hcp and he missed:)
Some work done here. Saw it on the hotel parking lot and it looks awesome I think.
Best combo ever...although I don't understand why they can't mix the ice cream together and add some as well:) It doesn't have to be fancy, just a lot of it!
Niclas Fasth caddie Gerry is liking his caddie shirt for this week. Looks cool I think.
The next photo will probably gross you out but had to show you the pain I have been in the last 18 holes. I got it on the first hole and it got worse and worse as the round went on. The only thing I could think of was to finish the round so I could get some treatment. It was so painful I had to take the right shoe off a few times and walk only with my sock on. Never had these blood blisters before. I didn't think much about my score today and maybe that helped me to shoot 2 under par for a 70. It putts me in 14th place right now and a chance to climb over the next three days. The physio guy in the following picture helped me out after the round and you can see he made it a lot better looking and it feels a lot better as well.
After treatment. Good job man!
Gonna change shoes for tomorrow and hope for some nicer walks in between shots.
It's amazing how much a course can change and feel different from the practice rounds to the tournament rounds. I didn't think much of this course when I first played it but today I thought it was pretty good. You have to hit a lot of quality shots to get close to these tucked away pins. If not you will get some seriously tricky putts. The course is also firming up a lot and those bunkers in the middle of the fairways are eating a lot more balls then earlier in the week. You have to play it a little more like a links style course now when it's firmer. Position rather than length of the tee and therefore you will get some long irons left to the greens.
Some massage now for my sore back will be it for tonight. Exciting nights when on tour. Not. Internet and food and then hit the bed no later than 10 PM usually...
