HELLO
2011-06-25
I miss the US Open already. It was so much cooler than I thought. Ok, the scoring was easier than normal but the course was so majestic. Teeing off on the 10th the first day gave me goosebumps and a lot of chills in the stomach.
The greens were lightning and some spots didn't have any grass. It was just mud packed together and a few pieces of grass on top of it. The greens were 13-14 on the stimp but some putts felt like 18.
I'm looking forward to go back to Akron in a few weeks. The Americans really know how to make good tournaments.
I wish I had more time now to write more about what happened at the US Open but will do it soon. Back home in Monaco now and have to go practice.
It usually looks better here..jpg&width=800&height=533)

Us Open final day
2011-06-20 Rounds of 75-67-74-74 was what I got out of this week. What a week of experiences though. Coolest week ever.
A few pics from the US OPEN underneath:
16 under par by Rory was incredible. He is such a nice guy as well. Congrats Rory!
(((((((I will write more about this tournament later because this was the most awesome thing I've ever played in. UNREAL!!! WOW!!! )))))))
They even have weights on the practice green...serious place this....jpg&width=800&height=1070)
After the round I had to buy some US Open stuff. I am a fan of this tournament. I admit it.
Renzo was my biggest fan this week. First time on a golf course and he was sore after walking 18 holes. He needs to see Pierre for a work out program. Soon.
Soon back with more about this. Gotta go and celebrate...eh...making the cut in the US Open. Finished 51st an I'm not totally happy about that. I wanted more but I learnt a lot and now I will work my hardest to do better from here on. Let's go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

US OPEN report
2011-06-16 We've had 3 days of preparation now and this is by far the best course I've ever played. It has everything. Fairways are firm and greens even firmer. It plays unreal. Everything is in perfect condition and it's loooong. What a place.
Played 18 today and the last nine with Kaymer. It was a long time ago we played together. Last and first time was 2006 on the Challenge Tour during the last round of an event in Germany where we played in the last group. I had no idea of who he was. He won and I finished 6th. He was a good player then.
Now, he is a stunning player. Jesus. I was impressed today. I forgot to play my own game. At least I acknowledged it and got back into it. But it was great to play with him to see that this course is not a beast. It's playable.
I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. It will be awesome.

This day was amazing! What a place. The greens are already brown and this course is brutal but fair. Already looking forward to tomorrow morning to get to play it again.

US Open preparation
2011-06-11
It's pretty nice having a morning coffee looking out over this and you know that you will have 12 hours of golf ahaead of you...
I wrote down the clubs I hit over the 18 holes from the black tees at Bro Hof Slott GC:
1. Driver, 5 iron, 8 iron (par 5)
2. Driver, 4 iron (par 4)
3. Driver, 7 iron (par 4)
4. Hybrid (par 3)
5. Driver, hybrid (par 4)
6. Driver, 7 iron (par 4)
7. Hybrid (par 3)
8. Driver, 4 iron (par 4)
9. Driver, 3 wood, sandwedge (par 5)
10. Driver, 7 iron (par 4)
11. Hybrid (par 3)
12. Driver, 3 wood, sandwedge (par 5)
13. Driver, 3 wood, gapwedge (par 5)
14. Driver, gapwedge (par 4)
15. Driver, 3 wood, sandwedge (par 5)
16. 3 wood (par 3)
17. 9 iron (par 3)
18. Driver, gapwedge (par 4)
Total course length: 7350 meters, appr. 8150 yards.
I hope it's longer than the US Open course Congreesional CC. My plan with playing Bro Hof from all the way back was to feel that a driver+4 iron is a short par 4 for when coming to Congressional. The only differences I have to deal with now is super fast greens, thicker rough than ever before and the world's best players to compete against. Sounds like it will be a fun week!
Goran Zachrisson, legendary sport journalist came by and had some lunch.
My car is a bit newer and you can actually fit the golf clubs.
Done for the day after a little gym session. The weather has been great here. Washington next week will be hot (and fun).
See you there!!!
