No idea what to say to the Princess.
2011-01-20
Got lucky with the draw again today. 7.20 this morning there was no wind. No sun. Just nice. Played well and putted awesome. That was fun. 66 (-6) for tied 3rd.
Met the Princess of Sweden. I like her. She seems like a cool girl. And very very nice to talk to. I had some problems deciding what I should call her..."Hello Princess Victoria" or "Hello Victoria" or "Hello Princess". I met here husband once breifly on a golf course in Sweden. I told her that I met her husband...or Daniel...or Husband Daniel (that came out wrong)...or Prince Daniel...or just Prince. Anyway there are no problems. It's not often that I meet royalty so let's drop this..jpg&width=800&height=597)
I know I shouldn't talk too much about the gym but today we had a really nice session. Actually thought my coach an exercise. That's a first.

2011 thoughts

Improving the quality of my training is one of my goals for 2011. I'm gonna practice more short game. Play more on the course. Work out hard but not make it my number one priority. I just love working out and pushing myself but I'm gonna do that when all my golf training is done. Not steal 15 or 30 minutes of my golf training to get lifts some weights.
Although, slacking in the gym is not the plan. Feels so much better playing golf fit.
Anyway. We are now in Abu Dhabi and it's the first round tomorrow. Worked hard on the shortgame last two days and we have done a lot of work on the wedges. 4 distances. 70, 80, 90 and 100 meters. I want to get closer with the wedges. That would be fun:)
Erik in the locker. "These shafts are so 2010" my friend said. Really? Ok. So lets break them.
Erik thought this car looked like a Prius on steroids.
This weather report looks like a Swedish summer week. Not a Abu Dhabi winter week. Eh, hope it's wrong. I like wind but rain is booring.
7.20 tee time. Good night.

Question
2011-01-17
Hi Alex,
Long time ago since I answered a question. Now, with a new hard drive in the computer, a new year has started and with new golf clubs it feels like it's about time to do so...here it is:
From: Gunar
could you PLEASE briefly explain to us your pre-round preparations if you start at 7:10 and wake up at 4:30?
Do you have a little cardio to wake up your body? Do have a little workout or stretch? When and what do you have for breakfast?
How do your "golf" preparations look like? When do you enter the driving range, putting, pitching, chipping green and in which order and why this specific order?
Would be great if you could give us a little insight!
THANKS AND GOOD LUCK THIS WEEK!
My answer: I usually wake up 3 hours before the tee-off time. Shower followed by a little bit of stretching in the room, depending on the soreness in my body. Breakfast 2 hours before tee-time. Try to eat as much as I can. Sometimes more, sometimes less depending on how nervous I am. Then I do three flexibility exercises and if Pierre is with me he stretches me and checks that everything feels ok. Then I start with the shortest shots, putting and then go on to small chips, pitches, bunker, lob shots and then finish with the driving range. I usually leave the driving range 15 minutes before tee-off.
Ciao!

13th-good start of the year.
2011-01-17
After three days of great weather, the bad stuff came in. And it stayed. For 18 holes. The course played a lot tougher as you could see on the scores. I shot even par, 71 the last day to move up 5 spots to a 13th place finish. Feels like a good start of the year.
Played great at times and not so great at times but hey, it was the first tournament and I'm already looking forward to play this week in Abu Dhabi.
Finally got my computer to work. The hard drive was totally gone. No idea how, but I have destroyed every computer I've had. Here are a few pics from last few days:
Was a little tough to focus on the movie on the plane..jpg&width=800&height=1066)
This was a desperate try to fix my hard drive. Looks sofisticated and very possible with an orange cord like that but no go!
The hunt for a functional computer took me down to the old hoods of Abu Dhabi.
Another easy task. Installing Skype on the Arabic site. Eh?
Ok. Let's Google for another Skype download site. Wow.
This is the 5th time I play this event and therefore 5th time at the Emirates Palace. The tournament let's all the players stay for free. Not complaining..jpg&width=800&height=533)
This book looks exciting.
The view. No sun. Weird.
Saw Kaymer in the lobby. He usually wins here. He usually wins. Period. I want to as well. Come on.

Status Update from Johannesburg
2011-01-15 This happened during the last few days:
1. Played ok. 66-69-70 puts me in 18th place and a good chance for a good finish tomorrow. Played good but haven't taken care of my opportunities for birdies but hey!, it could be worse. I'm happy with how I've played and we are just looking forward huh, not back.
2. My computer totally crashed. No idea why but it's weird being without it. Therefore the lack of pictures and more in here. You guys can watch it on TV though;)
3. Erik (my caddie for a few weeks) is thinking of installing a bench on the driving range next week and throw me balls to hit wedges with. He wants to see me hitting wedges until the bench is worn out. I guess he is not totally happy with my wedges. At least that's my guess.
4. The course looks long on paper but the ball goes seriously long here. 10% extra distance if not more. That's ok for me.
