Valderrama
2010-10-25
Tough finish last week but I was very happy with a lot of things and I'm trying again this week. A 23rd finish will still give me some valuable points and there is more to compete for this week.
3 tournaments left until Race To Dubai:
Valderrama this week
Week off
Singapore
Hong Kong
Race to Dubai
Today was a hectic day. I was gonna take it easy and just play tennis and work out. We ended up putting in the morning, having a great swing lesson in the afternoon, then tennis and then a heavy work out. A bit sleepy now...
Big day tomorrow with Callaway shooting, practice round and practice, junior clinic and then meeting up with Pierre in the gym. I wish I had more time to sleep.
Back soon!

Hole-In-One Video
2010-10-23
68-68-68 for -9. This week is going great!
Hole-in-one yesterday! It such a weird feeling making it in a tournament. I made one last year in the Portugal Masters (last week last year). I got seriously happy but it's easier showing emotions if it would've have been in a little betting match against your friends than in a tournament. Here is the shot on TV: Alex Hole-in-One
Pontus is in a good mood as always. We're all missing Pierre. The physio bus guys are great but I need him in the gym. I always go all out when he's there. It's easy to whoss out if he's not there. Anyway, the coffe makers are not missing him. Now there's coffee for everybody. Pierre usually has about 5 cups before lunch and countless after. He read somewhere that coffee is great for you.
Pontus and I are continuously raising our betting on the putting green. We're playing a game called "draw back". Here are the rules:
We put 18 holes. Each hole is between 5 and 20 meters. If I hit it short of the back of the hole Pontus will make 10 Euros. Then I have to draw it back 2 clubblengths and putt from there. If I make nothing happens. If I miss Pontus will make 10 Euros. From where the ball then ended up, I have to draw it back another clublength and putt again. If I miss that one as well, Pontus makes another 10 Euros. So, for every missed putt I have to draw it back a clublength, except for when the ball stops short which is 2 clublengths. The way for me to make money is to hit it past the hole, BUT within a clublength, and that will give me 10 Euros. If I make it will make me 20 Euros. If I hit it past more than 1 clublength I have to draw it back but the first putt will not cost me as it does if it was short of the hole.
A bit complicated but the whole idea is to be aggressive and to put a lot of pressure on me, ON EVERY PUTT. I feel like it is helping me a lot. And the best thing is that I am now looking forward more than ever to practice putting.
Now it's time for a short and explosive gym session so I can hit it far tomorrow! ;)

Round 1 Castellon
2010-10-21
I finally made it out of bed at 5.55 AM. Not as tired as I thought. Then sat down in the bus and I was out. Never been so tired before. You know when you wish the busride was 1 hour longer so you could sleep more.
After a quick breakfast including eggs with half of a bottle of oil on each fried egg and bacon that you are not totally sure if it's bacon. It could be anything. I's unsure if you want to know what it is. Finally made it into the physio bus where I can get help with stretching when Pierre is not here.
I love playing early in the morning. I think all pros do. The wind is usually sleeping and the greens are pure. The wet grass makes chipping easier and I always feel calmer in the mornings.
Today was a brilliant morning. At this time of the year in Castellon (home of Garcia), it's pretty cold in the mornings but warms up quickly. This morning there was no wind, unbelievable pure greens and I was playing better than I thought I would. The shadows were long and the hole group played well. It's always nice when everybody plays well. You inspire and motivate each other.
Went around in 68 shots, 3 under par. Very happy with that. In a good position after the first day.
After an unreal morning, this afternoon turned out brilliant as well. We received tennis court number 5. They prepared it with water and the clay was just awesome. Since, I suck at tennis, I like it either when the balls are old and soft or playing on clay where it plays slow as well. Erik Frost (caddies for Mr. Lundberg) was my opponent. I got beaten- it was still a nice afternoon.
Warming up with Pontus. I like the back fence.
1 PM tee off tomorrow.
