Round 3 Firestone
2010-08-08
Another sunny 28 degree day her in Akron and the course played pretty much the same as it has been all week. A little breeze in the same direction as the other days.
Got off to a seriously good start with 3 birdies on the first 4 holes and felt like I was gonna shoot really low but if you don't keep hitting fariways and greens around here you are not making anything happen. Medium to long irons on pretty much every hole and I haven't hit anything else than a driver this week. Some guys hit threewoods of a few holes but not many. It also feels a bit weird with only two par 5's on this course. It's a serious golf course this one and I love every minute of it. I want to come back here. Fast.
Got off our car number this week but in the wrong direction. 69-69-70 is 2 under total and got 7 shots up to the leaders. Going to be fun tomorrow to try to move up the leaderboard.
Cutting the fairways with a green cutter or whatever it's called:) Greenclipper in swenglish.
Pontus found his dream ride.
Another Japanese dinner tonight. After eating popcorn and candy for the last few dinners we decided to step it up and actually eat food yesterday. Ended up at this Japanes plays where it seemed like they had to much food left so the portions were huge. We took the sumo version so we had no chance to eat it all. "Doggybag"? Only in America. And it's only in America you would ever need a doggybag. It's not often you don'f finish your food in southern Europe. You wish they'de double the portion.
Bye bye from Cuyahoga Falls, Akron, Ohio.

Pontus is on clouds. Still.
2010-08-06
So, my caddie and friend Pontus Eliasson is still on clouds. He forgets that he caddies sometimes out there on the course because he just loves the place and the tournament so much. I agree. It's all amazing.
My parents came out to watch and they are funny. My mom goes; "Alex, these greens are weird! It looks like you're not gonna reach the holes on the putts and then they keep going and going and they even go past the hole." "Yeah mom, it's called 13,5 on the stimpmeter. When you have come to European Tour events in the past it's usually 10 on the stimp."
My game was a lot better than it has been lately. I've practiced a lot so I guess I'm gonna keep on doing that. 69 (-1) puts me tied for 18th at Bridgestone Invitational here in Akron. 2.10 PM tee-off time tomorrow with Simon Dyson.
Back sometime soon!

Amazing days
2010-08-04 Our week in Akron continues to amaze us. The golf course is as we've said, amazing but the Chapell Hill shopping mall (feels like all American malls are named that) we went to yesterday was even more amazing. Wow.
A little shoe store.
Back on the course. We played 18 holes on monday hitting millions of balls to really get to know the course. 9 yesterday scoring and 18 holes scoring today. Feels like the perfect preparation plus the practice on the range and practice greens. I could spend the rest of my life on this golf course. No joke.
I was wondering if the locker crew could change my spikes perhaps. "Yeah! Off course man, come on in here!" Eh, just a whole room where they change spikes, cleaned shoes and so on. Only in America....jpg&width=800&height=1066)
There is only one thing I don't get. Where does all the money come from to build a place like this?

Toughest part of the day. Navigate to a gym. Not so confident without a GPS in this city.
