Pics
2010-03-26 3 hours of short game after the round felt nice. What's also nice is that this is the view from the hotel room.
Niclas Fasth finishing up his round yesterday.
Morning glory. Nice to wake up to. Would love to have a place this close to a green.
Borderline for me on making the cut. Shit short game and very average long game. More short game training.
Now: Agassi book, food, gym, sleep.
Is the snow melting in Sweden yet? Golf abstinens?

Downswing sweetness
2010-03-25 -1 today. I like! Not because it was a great score but because I have gotten better since last week and I achieved my goal whcich was to have a good attitude the whole round. Started to hit 8 of the first 9 greens and didn't score better than 2 over on those. Not great. But, as my coach in college would have said. "Either you moan about it and waste some more shots or you get on with it and start playing good". I kept my focus and it paid off. 3 under on the back and I felt calm inside when walking off the course. Haven't felt that feeling in a while.
I found a sweet video of my idol Ben Hogan on youtube.com.
This is the best downswing I've ever seen. The club is thrown straight down to the ball and with tons of loft on the clubhead. This is the downswing I'm looking for. When I watch this, it reminds me of hitting a bunker shot with a 60 degree wedge. The left hand is a little cupped which creates loft on the club and you feel that it's cupped the whole way down to the ball. In the bunker shot you can keep it cupped through the ball and all the way to the finish. This is not possible in the full swing when you create more speed. The cupped left wrist will straighten out very close to impact. Very close is a key factor. If the cupped left wrist gets straight earlier you will loose the loft and the natural release of the club and the shots get manipulated and that is exactly what I do.
I keep it cupped all the way from adress to the top of the backswing. Then I start too aggressive with my body and therefore I'm not able to hold the wrist cupped and I loose all the synchronization in the downswing. My goal is to maintain the left wrist cupped and being able to strike it as pure as Hogan does in this picture. It looks like it's all happening without effort in this video. BAAM! Straight down to the ball. No bullshit re-routing of the club. Nothing. Just BAAM!
Since I can maintain the correct wrist position on a bunkershot, I'll train a lot in the bunker to get used to the correct movement.
"The secret is in the dirt", Hogan said. Maybe my secret is in the sand? What do you guys think?
Time to sleep and get ready for round 2. Happy happy!

Practice round 1
2010-03-23 Just came back after a good meeting about this year's Nordea Scandinaviam Masters. We players met the big bosses and tried to come up with some good ideas for the tournament. We all like the event and we want to make it good and fun for everybody! Would be awesome if we could get over 100.000 people to come watch and enjoy the golf tournament at Bro Hof Slott GC, one of the best courses in the world I think.
9 holes practice and a lot of range and shortgame time. My hands are really sore now. Just grabbed a club in the room and my callusses feel like rocks in my hands. That's the way it should be. When my hands are smooth, I know I haven't practiced enough.
Looks weird when the ball is still there. I promise I didn't miss it:)
Edfors is back in Europe after his Asian winter schedule. He said he hasn't made a birdie in Europe yet this year.

Parador
2010-03-23 It was a good monday here in Malaga and Parador Golf Club. 2 hours on the range and 2 hours on the chipping green and 30 min on the putting and to finish off with and hour in the gym. More than usual on a monday but it felt good.
They've had a lot of rain here and the course has gotten damaged badly around it. Fairways and greens are ok but the rough looks a bit "rough":)
Usual monday sight in the range.
As you can see here, there is a lot of damage around it but who cares. Good grass to hit from and good balls!
I miss practicing in the evenings. We always did when we were young at home. Nobody else around and I like the light. What I don't like is this position I'm in but that's why I'm still there on the range...
