Day 3 Wentworth
2010-05-22
Wentworth is kicking a lot of but this week, including mine. But, I'm not giving up.
One more round and if I can keep my frustrated head out of my game I got a chance for a good finishing score.
I really want to play well and play consistently well in the future and I'm now at a cross road wether how much I'm going to train and how many tournaments I'm going to play. The last few months I've put in a lot of work on my swing with Rikard Fors. To change the swing and still play good golf is a tough thing to do and therefore it's very important to have enough time to train away from tournaments. I've tried to work on my swing during tournaments but it's so hard to do and it makes it tough to compete the next day. So as they say; "If you always do what you've always done, you will always get what you've always got". Or something like that. So I'm now deciding on what the best thing is to do forward.
What about Robert Karlsson???!!! Unreal, 62 after leaving yesterday thinking he'd missed the cut. He's now 2 back with one more round.
Thanks to all support I've got this week from all you blog readers who were out on the course last few days. You are all sooo great and thanks a lot!!! You make me happy and wanting to get better!

Oh and your brother who looks identical to you by the way! That was a filthy good bogey on 17 on Friday too!
Thanks for giving me your golf ball and signing it, after looking for the pen for 5 minutes! Haha!
Hope the driver you used on Sunday was good! :) look forward to watching you WIN at Celtic Manor next week!!

Hi Alex,Keep going and hope it's a low round today!
When you get away from Wentworth if you could blog your thoughts on whether to play less and work on the game more OR to carry on playing the tournaments and work on it at the same time.
Looking at your stats you are 10 yards shorter than last year and driving accuracy is down but that stats can be deceiving. With your talent that can turn round quickly.
Good luck and keep us up to date on progress!!

I hope you'll score low today Alex !! ... anyway, I think you should play quite many more tournaments than you do now. Yet, you're not "good enough" (don't get me wrong) to play few tournaments. To do so I think you need to be one of those players who know that they will make the cutt 99 times out of 100. Playing a lot at this point of your life will just give you a lot of positive experience, might be heavy to travel around a lot but I guess that's what could later on in you carreer give you that extra focus to play well when it matters so that you won't have to play all the tournaments all the time (and having experienced that you will know how tough it is). Just 2 cents from an amateur who doesn't actually know anything about pro life, but who likes to write down his opinion !reply

You got another fan through your youtube channel .. your a golfer that laughs a lot and plays brilliant golf too thats a good balance - enjoy yourself today.reply

I think you should stick to playing more tournaments. Just look at you thursday round. You played some really good golf, so you know you've got the game for it.It's tough to be consistant and always shoot under par. Look at Robert Karlsson. I'm sure you think he's a really great golfer, but he played worse than you for the first two days. The way he came back into contention is amazing though. Maybe that's where you should put a bit more training. On the mental side of the game. Just a though. :)
Good luck today!!!

Hi Alex, I walked around Wentworth on Friday to watch how you play and manage your game. I joined yor group on the second par 3 where you had missed the green right. I left you on the 15th hole when you had to hit a provisional ball after your first tee shot which you found anyway. I felt your attitude was good and I did see you birdie the 8th to get to -3 for the tournament. Going back to working on your swing, yes it's tough and certainly when in mid round. I think you could take one swing thought onto the course with you and commit just to that one thought. I really enjoyed following you on Friday and wish you all the best for today's round on the west course, good luck.reply

Hi Alex,Loved watching you play today. Just wanted to say thank you for being so patient with me and my phone that wouldn’t take a photo... it really was so lovely of you! Definitely a big mistake not remembering my camera!
Unfortunately I won't be there today, but really hope you have a good round :)

Alex,Tough backside today, but keep your chin up. Reading your blog, it occurs to me that you might be a bit over-trained...and also a bit spent from the week at Monaco. On the other hand, don't listen to me; you're the professional, and I'm just a fan. So just play golf, and know that people from all over the world are in your corner. You're fun to watch..
