Day 1 JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am 2010

Great day today at Adare Manor GC. JP McManus Pro-Am is the most rediculously cool tournament ever. It's the best field assembled in Europe this year and 56 of the world best players are here. 30 000 spectators are here each day!!! I would love to have known about this tournament earlier and I would have gone as a kid.
The tournament raises money to charities and has over the last 20 years raised over 50 million Euros. Eh....pretty great!
Ok. So, the course is brutal and my game was pretty good. 73, one over par and 4 shots of the leader right now. Tiger is 5 over after 11 I saw earlier so it plays pretty tough.
One more round and then off to Loch Lomond on wednesday for another stupidly awesome tournament. It's the best stretch now in the middle of the summer.

It really seems that you are super pleased with your game, but keep in mind that you don't compete in the Majors. You really need to aim higher in order to get there. Aim for number one!reply

Diane, on the photo, you have Henrick Stenson, Tiger and John Daly with the checked red pants!! I think the golfer in the background is the young man from Italy.Alex, great to hear you are enjoying Adare, great track (a little long on the walking!) with 2 great par 5's on both nines (9th and 18th). Your game is still on the up, so looking forward to watching you for the 2 weeks, maybe a win soon?

I know a lot of people are following your blog and asking you questions all the time so maybe it's not easy to answer them all. But I hope you can answer this one. Do you think that your swing would be different, as in easier, if you had been taller and bigger ? Ernie Els and Retief Goosen for example, as well as Robert Karlsson, have a very smooth swing, which seem easier to control and repeat... Do you feel that you would have liked to swing like that but because the lack of cm you need a more powerful and faster swing (i'm not talking club speed because I guess they have a higher club speed than you altough their swing seem "slow")?reply

i was there today wot a day we dont get much golf in ireland just the irish open this is on every five years and the weather has been great of late saw u today alex good stuff it payed real tough today but wow wot a dayreply
